As part of a proof of concept for a major cruise line, I designed a virtual waiting room experience to enhance the online booking process. The goal was to provide users with clear, engaging feedback on their queue position while introducing interactive elements to keep them engaged.
Key Features & Design Goals
Real-time queue visualization
Displayed the user's spot in line, their position number,  the number of people ahead, and an estimated wait time.
Skip the wait option
Allowed users to bypass the queue by providing an email, streamlining access for high-priority users.
Recent bookings view Showcased real-time updates on recent cruise bookings to reinforce demand and build anticipation.
Interactive engagement
Included a trivia slider to entertain users and reduce perceived wait time.

My Role
I was responsible for UX/UI design, creating wireframes, interactive prototypes, and final visual design. My approach emphasized clarity, efficiency, and a seamless user experience, ensuring that users felt informed and engaged throughout their wait.

Outcome
This proof of concept successfully demonstrated an engaging virtual waiting experience, balancing functionality with brand storytelling. The design helped reduce user frustration, increase engagement, and provide opportunities for customer data collection.
